Myofascial Release
“Myo” is Latin for muscle and fascia is the connective web that surrounds our entire body. Fascia connects not only the muscles, but the nerves, bones, skin and organs in our body.
Trigger points are often found within myofascial tissue, which can refer pain and inhibit movement. Myofascial release can assist these dysfunctions by facilitating a stretch effect into the restricted myofascial regions.
The technique involves using maintained pressure to engage the underlying fascia until the tissue releases.
